LED RFID Cable Tie — Features
In dense cable infrastructure, reading an EPC from a handheld scanner tells you which tag the reader is pointing at — but in a rack with fifty cables bundled together, that information alone does not tell you which physical cable to pull without checking each one. This tag adds a second output to the standard RFID read response: a visual signal visible from across the room. An operator enters the aisle, triggers find mode on a handheld reader with the target EPC programmed in, and follows the light directly to the asset. No ladder climbing to check labels, no partial disassembly to expose tags hidden in bundles. The light source has no power supply independent of the reader's RF field, which means there is nothing to charge, replace, or maintain across the tag's service life.

LED RFID Cable Tie — FAQ
-
No. The LED is powered entirely by the RF energy harvested from the reader's interrogation signal — the same energy that powers the chip. There is no battery to replace or deplete. The tag is fully passive and maintenance-free.
-
The LED triggers on any standard UHF EPC Gen2 read command. Most handheld readers (Zebra, Chainway, Urovo, etc.) can be configured to query a specific EPC in 'find mode', which causes continuous reads and sustained LED flashing. Contact us if you need compatibility confirmation for your specific reader model.
-
In dense environments — server racks with dozens of cables, archive shelves with hundreds of files — visual identification by LED flash typically reduces search time by 80–90% compared to manual scanning and visual matching. The exact improvement depends on rack density and operator workflow.
-
Yes. The ABS construction and compact 30×25×15mm head are designed for cable and equipment management in server rooms and data centres. The tag is reusable, so it can move with equipment during rack reorganisation without replacement cost.

The standard LED colour is matched to the tag body colour. Custom LED indicator colours can be specified at order — for example, a red body with a green LED for colour-blind-friendly contrast. Contact us with your colour requirements when placing a sample or bulk order.
